Johnny Barba is a first-generation college student from the Village of Byesville in rural Ohio Appalachia where he looks forward to returning to practice. He is an accomplished medical student at the Ohio State University College of Medicine and Public Health. Earning his MPH focused on addressing rural Appalachian health disparities, he has applied his skills by creating the Dr. Disc Golf initiative which has secured grant funding to transform the beautiful Appalachian nature into disc golf courses and walking paths to promote healthy living in his community. With a passion for medical education, he is an active author for First Aid USMLE-Rx and has published multiple chapters in the First Aid Step 2 CK 11th edition review book, thirty Step 1 Video Express lectures, and over 1600 Step 1 Flash Facts flashcards. His long-term plans focus on establishing rural academic dermatology satellite clinics across Appalachia. His hobbies include glow in the dark disc golf, being an avid Cleveland sports fan, playing board games and uno with his family, and trying to convince his cat Penny that she does not need another can of cat food.
