Dr. Afton Cobb is a southwest native who grew up in Albuquerque, NM. She graduated summa cum laude from the Barrett Honors College at Arizona State University with a BA in Global Health and a minor in Spanish. She is a triple Ivy League board-certified dermatologist and fellowship-trained Mohs surgeon, starting with medical school at Dartmouth College, dermatology residency at Brown University and ACMS fellowship training through the Harvard Beth Israel Lahey Health program.
Dr. Cobb has published over 15 articles and textbook chapters and has been awarded a number of national and international leadership and community service accolades. Because of her interests in global public health, Dr. Cobb trained in medical Spanish in Ecuador and Guatemala, created a WHO-award-winning public health campaign in Nicaragua, and spent a year living in Botswana, Africa, participating in a health informatics research fellowship.
She currently practices in Jackson Hole, WY at Western Wyoming Dermatology, part of Advanced Dermatology and Cosmetic Surgery. She is dedicated to improving dermatologic care and access to care to patients in Wyoming. Dr. Cobb re-invigorated the Wyoming Academy of Dermatology (WAD) after 20 years of quiescence and during her leadership as President, grew the WAD membership, held several conferences, fundraising efforts, and a state-wide public health advocacy campaign for skin cancer awareness. Dr. Cobb joined RAD due to her interests in working with underserved populations and improving health inequities. Every day in Wyoming, she experiences firsthand the obstacles patients and providers face in accessing specialty care in rural areas, so she is excited to support the efforts of RAD.
